These programs are introductions to techniques and skills from the Courses offered to the Murray Grove Community, led by Dr. Carol Penn, which will be posted daily on the Murray Grove Social Media Outlets

Session 1: Meditation for the Modern day Contemplative 

By the end of this interactive session, participants will learn:

      1. The three major forms of meditation, concentrative, mindfulness, and expressive
      2. Have an experiential with at least one of the forms of meditation and perhaps even all three!

Session 2:  Breathing Techniques for Stress Reduction, Brain Health, AND Setting Intentions

By the end of this interactive sessions participants will know how to:

      1. Set intentions using the support of the breath.
      2. Use 5x5x5 Breathing
      3. Use alternate nostril breathing to simultaneously balance the brain and calm the nervous system.

Session 3:  Creating a Self Care Toolkit 

Fun for the whole family, we will create self-care toolkits based on our seven senses: touch, taste, sight, hearing, smell, vestibular (movement), and proprioceptive (comforting pressure). this self-regulation and resiliency tool kit will be on the ready for some emotional first aid whenever needed at the completion of the activity.

Dr. Carol Penn

Mind, Body, Spirit Faculty Bio: Dr. Carol Penn, DO, Dipl. ABOM, is doubly board-certified in family medicine and obesity medicine and a master Mindset, Meditation, and Movement Coach. Dr. Penn is CEO and founder of Penn Global Visions, LLC; of New Jersey; medical correspondent for WURD Radio Station in Philadelphia; certified health, wellness, and fitness coach; as well as founder/artistic director of Core of Fire Interfaith Dance Ministry. Additionally, Dr. Carol is a graduate of Medical Moguls Academy (2019) and serves on the faculty of Medical Moguls University, clinical faculty for Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine as well as faculty member for the Center for Mind-Body Medicine and is a Staff Physician in Family Medicine at CentraState Healthcare System.

Prior to becoming a doctor, Dr. Carol danced with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Company & School, served as a teaching fellow and consultant to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as well as tenured fine arts faculty for DC public schools. Dr. Carol has toured internationally as a dancer and speaker. She is author of the best-selling book:  MEDITATION IN A TIME OF MADNESS: A Guidebook for Talented Tweens, Teens, their Parents and Guardians Who Need to Thrive.
